From the Introduction
This is a primer about the Friday prayer I originally wrote in 2007 to be used in Khaṭīb training. A Khaṭīb is one who delivers the Friday sermon. This brief text does not delve into the many details found in longer works of fiqh. Simple and basic, it addresses the seven questions: Who, What, When, Where, Why, How, and How Many.
- Who can lead Jumuʿah?
- What must the person leading Jumuʿah do?
- When is Jumuʿah performed?
- Where is it performed?
- Why is Jumuʿah an obligation?
- How does one perform Jumuʿah?
- How many? (A compilation of several questions)
I hope you find this introduction beneficial and that it can acts as a springboard for you to perform the Jumuʿah prayer properly and motivate you to learn more about this important topic.
